Your role
We recognize the immense value that students bring to our company. Your academic rigor, combined with your enthusiasm for cutting-edge technology, allows you to approach problems with a unique and insightful lens. At Saab, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced engineers and specialists, gaining invaluable practical experience while making a tangible contribution to our growth and development.
Background
Consider an autonomous system of systems (SoS) consisting of a management system and multiple physical resources (for example UAVs) that together execute a mission in an environment with a hostile opponent. The function of the management system is to maintain a common model of the situation and issue revised and updated plans to the resources based on this model. Physically, the SoS consists of multiple physically separate mobile hardware platforms, and is connected through some form of wireless communication technology into a local cloud network in which the management system is running.
As long as the network remains connected, the SoS is assumed to work as expected. If, however, the network becomes disconnected, the SoS must—in this degraded state—still be able to continue to execute the mission with the highest possible ability. This kind of disconnected configuration could either be the result of deliberate planning, the environment, or the opponent's actions.

Description of the master thesis
This Master Thesis aims at studying and investigating concepts for a dynamic organizational architecture that can handle that the network during operation becomes disconnected into multiple parts. These disconnected management systems (with no or very limited communication) should then direct a set of resources partitioned between them to effectively continue to complete common objectives.
Expected results: A written report containing a literature survey, a description of an architecture solution with a discussion, and results from software experiments showcasing the desired behavior for a simplified game-like scenario.
You will be part of a unit of approximately 15 highly skilled professionals with diverse backgrounds in architecture, systems engineering and software development, all within the domain of mission systems for airborne platforms and autonomous systems. Our teams are located in both Linköping and Stockholm, and we work closely across sites to develop advanced, integrated solutions.
Your profile
This Master Thesis is suitable for 1 student. You are at the end of your masters program in computer science, software engineering, or applied mathematics and about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 hp. An interest in game theory is meriting.
