Background
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is often a small drone with limited performance, but could also be a full-scale autonomous aircraft with the same capabilities and complex functions as a fighter aircraft. Development of a fighter aircraft is to a large extent tested in simulated test environments, with simulator models representing the different systems of the aircraft and the surrounding environment. Autonomous aircraft are predicted to complement or even replace traditional pilot-based aircraft, which will also affect how an aircraft system should be simulated and tested.
Description of the master thesis
This master thesis project aims at investigating and demonstrating tool and techniques for visualization of a simulation for an autonomous aircraft. The study shall include a study of related previous work, interviews with senior engineers in software development at Saab Aeronautics, and developing a demonstrator for visualization of simulation (based on existing components).
The Team
Team Rigs And Integration are responsible for the overall integration of our Development Simulators and offers a unique opportunity to gain insight in how a complex aircraft system works. We work in close cooperation with our stakeholders and with teamwork, innovation and curiosity we develop the simulators of today and tomorrow.
Your profile
This Master Thesis is suitable for one or two students, with interest in software development and software testing. You are at the end of your Master of Science in e.g. Computer Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, or Information Technology and about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 HP
