Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking a motivated and team-oriented Material Handler to join our growing Operations team. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for performing daily tasks across receiving, stockroom/warehouse, and shipping operations. As a valued member of the team, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with others and contribute to the continued improvement and development of our internal processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, package, and ship domestic and international orders, including completing all required documentation.

  • Complete import paperwork and coordinate clearance with Freight Forwarders.

  • Coordinate domestic and international palletized shipments with Freight Forwarders.

  • Unpack and inspect incoming materials against purchase orders and invoices.

  • Maintain accurate records of received materials and identify and reject damaged, incorrect, or otherwise unsatisfactory items.

  • Pick, kit, and distribute production materials from stockroom and warehouse locations to various departments throughout the organization.

  • Examine, stock, and organize materials in inventory to effectively manage stock locations and maximize the use of available storage space.

  • Perform inventory checks and daily cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.

  • Obtain quotes from Freight Forwarders for upcoming inbound and outbound shipments.

  • Safely lift heavy items and operate a forklift.

  • Successfully complete internal forklift testing and obtain certification.

  • Maintain and organize the off-site warehouse.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex stockroom or inventory issues.

  • May be required to work at both our Collamer and Enterprise facilities, both located in East Syracuse, NY.

Compensation Range: $20.24 - $23.32 per hour

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years of relevant material handling experience.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with relevant safety concerns and precautions (e.g., lifting and powered industrial truck operations).

  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Oracle (or a similar system).

  • Forklift experience and/or certification.

  • Experience with packing, shipping, and data entry.

  • Prior experience with commercial packaging best practices.

  • Working knowledge of an MRP inventory management system and experience completing inventory transactions in a stockroom.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
