We are looking for an Operational Support Technician to join our Training Services team in Holstebro, Denmark.

Business Unit Training & Simulation develops and manufactures training systems, mainly for military users. Our offer is wide-ranging and includes the provision of world-leading laser simulators for live training, force-on-target applications, virtual simulation capabilities and training services. Training & Simulation operates globally with more than 1200 employees in twelve different countries and we are now expanding our footprint with new training facilities in Denmark.

Saab Training & Simulation has been contracted to provide laser-based training, simulation and support services to the Danish Armed Forces at 4 key training sites in Denmark.
Your role
In this role, you will be based at our training facility in Holstebro , and will receive full training to become the subject matter expert for all matters related to Saab’s laser-based simulation system and its wide array of applications and sub-systems. This system is vital in providing simulation and training support to the Danish Armed Forces and you will be a key player in the training set-up at your designated site.
You will report directly to the Support Manager, who will be located at our main hub in Holstebro and who will have overall responsibility for the delivery of training services. He/she will also be your link into the headquarters of Saab Training & Simulation in Huskvarna, Sweden. You will work as part of a tight team of 8, each with specific skills and responsibilities, but will work out of the Holstebro site as part of a 3-person Saab team working in close cooperation with a military contact team.
As Operational Support Technician for our Holstebro operation, you will play a key role in ensuring that all of our simulators are maintained, distributed and configured to deliver the best possible training experience to the customer. You need to be open, loyal and honest, trust your co-workers and honour agreements, decisions and processes.
The role would suit a high-quality training instructor with a strong analytic approach and the capacity to find practical and pragmatic solutions under pressure. A background with the Danish Armed Forces is advantageous but not a pre-requisite and some experience in the repair, maintenance and management of field equipment is highly desirable.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Deploy on field exercises in support of Danish and multinational Armed Forces, providing field-based and back-office support to your team and the customer.
Troubleshooting, fault-finding, maintenance and repair of simulation sub-systems and delivery of rapid solutions.
Use your extensive knowledge and understanding of the simulation systems to advise the customer and to optimize their use towards the training audience.
Provide on-demand equipment training to the customer and other stakeholders.
Support the Support Manager in keeping all equipment in good working order and ensure availability according to the contract, carrying out routine maintenance and repairs as necessary.
Be prepared to deploy to support occasional Saab exercises or operations across Europe.
Maintain all Denmark CTC equipment at your respective site in line with the Support Manager’s plan.
Attend pre-exercise planning meetings and recces advising on all aspects of simulator functionality.
Conduct relevant pre-exercise technical work including simulator preparation and configuration.
Assist with general CTC Site work as required by the Support Manager.
Assist other sites with peak support as required.
Support Saab marketing activity as required.
Assist with any Danish Army and Site Staff continuation/refresher training.
Provide input for performance assessment of team members as required.
Provide peak support to other Saab activity as required.
Maintain, and foster an open and effective system of communication between all Denmark CTC staff.
Skills and experience
Analytic IT and technical skills in order to identify faults in simulation systems and make effective repairs.
A strong technical interest and the capability to analyse problems and make quick solutions that will keep our simulation systems operational.
A strong drive and can-do attitude with a focus on delivery
Fluency in Danish and English, both written and spoken. Working knowledge of spoken English.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Full driving licence
Readiness to travel internationally, without restrictions.
Candidates must be able to obtain a security clearance by the Danish Defence Intelligence Service. This entails that candidates, as a minimum, have had residency within NATO/EU for the last 7 years.
