Product Support Engineer
Saab Inc. is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented individual to fill the role of Product Support Engineer for the Traffic Management team. The Product Support Engineer provides support for a variety of sensors and surface radars that are deployed domestically and internationally.
This role will be located at our national headquarters in Syracuse, New York with occasional travel to customer sites. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and committed to solving customer problems. Responsibilities of the Product Support Engineer include:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve a variety of complex technical issues independently or in collaboration with others by applying company policies and procedures.
Perform data analysis to identify root cause and solutions to surveillance system problems.
Provide both remote and on-site technical support to customers on a variety of complex systems.
Investigate issues using common diagnostic test equipment and software tools.
Respond to situations where first-line technicians have failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
Identify tasks to resolve independently.
Have significant contact with customers.
Support other company functional areas such as installation and training.
Deliver training to customers.
Report design, reliability, and maintenance problems or bugs to Design Engineering/Software Engineering.
Participate in and/or lead process improvement efforts.
Influence colleagues to drive issues to resolution.
Assignments occasionally require independent, on-site work, often during non-standard business hours.
Skills and Experience:
Professional with demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve
Effectively uses problem solving skills and analytical thinking.
Understand analog, digital, RF, wired and wireless communications systems and networks.
Proven experience working with radars and other sensor systems.
Unix, Linux and MATLAB experience desired.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be a problem solver who is poised, mature and fully capable of professional communication with customers and Saab Inc. personnel.
Proven experience in building positive customer relationships through continued, long-term customer interaction.
Education & Experience:
3+ years of sensor or radar system product support, or equivalent military technical experience
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
