The opportunity

Saab Australia is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT). The CSI-IPT forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1).

The role

As a DDG Project Manager, you will play a key role in delivering the Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyer combat system to the Royal Australian Navy. Working within a complex stakeholder environment, you will support critical project management activities, collaborate with internal and external partners, and contribute to successful project outcomes.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Support the delivery of the DDG program through effective project planning, coordination, reporting, and administrative activities.

  • Act as, or support, a Control Account Manager (CAM) to monitor project performance, schedules, costs, and deliverables.

  • Prepare and manage project documentation, including reports, CDRLs, plans, and other contract deliverables.

  • Contribute to bid and proposal activities by providing project management expertise and support.

  • Identify, assess, and help manage project risks and opportunities, escalating emerging issues as required.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years' project management experience, preferably within Defence or a complex project environment.

  • Experience in planning, scheduling, EVM, and project governance.

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and deliver practical, innovative solutions.


Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
