The role
As part of our Defence Delivery Organisation, the Senior Project Manager will lead a complex maritime project involving multiple internal and external stakeholders. They will perform day-to-day management of the assigned project management team and be responsible for defining, managing and owning the outcome of the project, including cost and margin, schedule, scope, quality, customer satisfaction and any other project objectives.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Lead, direct and delegate to the project management team
- Develop the project approach to achieve project and corporate outcomes, including identifying opportunities in order to maximise outcomes
- Prepare, monitor and revise plans, estimates, cost accounts and schedules for the project/programme to meet the objectives set by the contract/project directive
- Assess risk related to the project/programme
- Lead and present status at Steering Committee Meetings, Gate Reviews, Customer Reviews and Progress Meetings
- Manage contract variations and scope change
- Develop and maintain knowledge on the use of the solution(s)
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
- A tertiary qualification(s) in science, engineering or in a business discipline
- An understanding of the lifecycle of system development projects
- Motivating, mentoring and leading staff within a team environment to foster cooperation within and between teams
- Managing internal and external stakeholders
- Producing and reviewing project documentation
- Project scheduling and planning
- Understanding of best practice project management
- Leading systems projects
- Meeting the requirements of Australian Institute of Project Management CPPD accreditation or similar
- Cost Schedule System Reporting (CSSR) or related Earned Value Management system
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines
- Setting clear expectations, fostering open communication, providing timely feedback, and promoting a positive team culture both for office and remote workers.
Applicants must be Australian citizens hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to at least NV1. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
