The role

As part of our Maritime group, the Senior Project Planner and Controller will provide advice and guidance to task managers, Control Account Managers (CAMs) and project managers in the areas of project planning, project monitoring and control, cost and schedule baseline maintenance and reporting of project cost and schedule status.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Establish maintain the project Contract Work Breakdown Structure (CWBS), CBWS index and CWBS dictionaries
  • Develop cost performance reports and analyse cost performance data
  • Establish and maintain a Project Master Schedule
  • Assist with the development of project budgets and in the selection of appropriate earned value techniques
  • Ensure that planning and scheduling, budgeting, accounting, analysis and reporting activities are fully integrated
  • Co-ordinate with the contract administrator the preparation of contract change proposals and the implementation of contract amendments
  • Produce corrective action reports for CAM analysis

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Three to five years on projects of medium to high complexity
  • Project performance measurement using earned value to AS4817 and the defence supplement
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management processes (e.g. PMBOK)
  • Experience in developing reports using MS Excel 2016 data model capability and PowerBI
  • Project management software - preferably Open Plan Professional or Microsoft Project
  • Cost management software – preferably COBRA
  • Proven analytical skills relating to costs and scheduling performance and reporting.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 appropriate clearance.
