The role
The Senior Site Security Technician will plan and perform maintenance activities, perform and support planned and reactive maintenance of the Saab deployed system and subsystems as appropriate for the Saab OneView™ software installations at the Southern Queensland Correctional Precinct in Gatton, QLD.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Plan and perform, in consultation with the Facility Manager – Security Services, routine and preventative maintenance activities in accordance with contractual obligations. Systems include SMS, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarm, Video Analytics, Perimeter Detection, Intercom, Networks and General IT.
- Submit “Notice of Disruption” documentation to the customer, liaise and schedule appropriate time to do preventative maintenance activities.
- Complete, submit and manage the maintenance procedures and records required for the routine and preventative maintenance. Sign-off and submit test records as proof of work performed.
- Report system faults requiring corrective maintenance with the Customer’s Facility Manager to generate corrective work orders where required.
- Supervise and escort subcontractors required for routine maintenance on equipment maintained by others (such as Secure Portals, Turnstiles, Vehicle Scanners, Body Scanners and X-Ray Machines). Ensure that subcontractors complete the relevant test records. Submit subcontractor test records as proof of work performed.
- Work in accordance with a site-engineering plan (including change record management) for approval of changes to site e.g. firmware, software or updates / upgrades from a supplier.
- Maintain site drawings, schedules, as-built configuration, spares records and any other documentation as required and provide updates (in accordance with Saab Security Configuration Management policy) due to authorised site changes.
- Act as on-site technician to perform directed changes to a site’s configuration, or updates to software versions as directed by Saab Project or Engineering or the Facility Manager – Security Services.
- Proactively identify possible issues and defects on sites, reporting them via the support ticketing system.
- Work on tasks allocated, and report progress on those tasks via the support ticketing system.
- Be pro-active and seek out information on the Saab deployed security systems – continue to better your understanding of these systems and how they’re deployed utilising the resources Saab have made available.
- Have an ongoing good relationship with stakeholder representatives, and meet with them when on site to identify early any issues or areas for improvement.
- Maintain and manage the replenishment / repair of Security System spares via the ‘Return to Manufacturer’ process. Including updates to the Spares Register, Stocktakes and Courier Requests.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
Essential:
- Excellent customer and supplier liaison skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to author email and reports for non-technical (customer) consumption.
- At least 3 years’ experience in the security industry with IP based systems.
- Experience with security systems IT hardware (for example network hardware, workstation build and modification, servers and storage array) and troubleshooting.
- Experience with setup/configuration and installation of Gallagher access control and intruder alarm systems.
- Experience with setup/configuration of IP based CCTV and intercom systems.
- Experience with servicing and maintenance of general security system equipment.
- General IT knowledge and skills, capable of loading and configuring work stations, servers and network switching equipment.
- Competent technician experience/qualifications, with the ability to fault find and rectify faults in a timely manner.
- IP networking fundamentals experience, including addressing, sub-netting and VLAN knowledge.
- Must have and be able to retain a QLD Security Installers Licence at all times.
- Must have and be able to retain a Drivers Licence at all times.
- Must have and be able to retain an NSW High Risk Work Licence for EWP 11m+.
Desirable
- Experience in supervision of remote site delivery and or commissioning teams.
- Experience with Windows 10 / Server 2008 and above, SQL Server.
- Experience with VMware or other Hypervisor technologies.
- Use of Configuration and Change Management Systems.
- Use of Version Control Systems.
- System and software maintenance experience.
- Network management and monitoring experience, such as OpenNMS or other SNMP monitoring technologies and MIBs.
- Experience in managing or deploying Backup and Recovery Solutions.
- SAN management and troubleshooting.
- Network switch management (HP, Dell, Moxa).
- Microsoft SQL Server SQL scripting, deployment and troubleshooting.
- Serial (RS232, RS422, RS485) communication experience.
- Experience in deploying and Microsoft Clustering (SQL or server) solutions.
- Development of documentation relating to operation and maintenance of security systems.
- Experience with other security related sub-systems such as duress systems, perimeter detection systems, biometrics, key safes and intercoms.
- Security Cabling Licence.
- Cyber security deployment, management and reporting.
