Job Description:

Saab, Inc is looking for an experienced Technical Support Engineer at our Orlando, FL facility to support current and future programs. The Technical Support Engineer configures software, conducts repairs of electronic, optical equipment, loads, and minor hardware repairs on various Saab equipment.

The Technical Support Engineer will conduct testing and maintenance of equipment in line with planned usage and maintenance plans.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluates repair orders and decides to repair or to classify as Beyond Economical Repair (BER).
  • Administrates repair orders either SiteMS or VERSO, (Saab systems) depending upon end customer.
  • Conducts repairs of mechanical, electronic, and optical equipment according to applicable documentation (Parts list, drawing, wiring diagram, Operation instruction, Control instructions) within set turnaround timeframes.
  • Identify degraded system performance and recommend methods for improvement.
  • Loads and configures software according to the applicable in-service structure.
  • Tests equipment, pre and post repair, according to applicable control instructions.
  • Ensures that all documentation related to the repairs, upgrades or configuration changes is up to date in SiteMS or VERSO.
  • Conducts test and maintenance of equipment in line with maintenance plans.
  • Performs upgrades to fielded equipment.
  • Conducts fault reporting using NCR.

Authority:

  • Stops work upon suspicion of any quality defects.
  • Makes decisions on repair or BER.
  • Determines the validity of warranty claims.
  • Contributes to manpower/resource planning and scheduling.
  • Interacts with internal or external customers on technical and programmatic issues.
  • Lead small team projects or lead period of instruction on levels one through four electrical and mechanical repairs.
  • Understanding business objectives and opportunities to influence/impact.

Compensation Range: $90,000 - $112,500

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge in trouble shooting of mechanical, electronic and optical equipment (3+ years of experience).
  • Knowledge of fault finding and testing cables.
  • Knowledge in testing units and loading software.
  • Knowledge of production documentation, configuration documents and control instructions.
  • Be certified in soft soldering, IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.
  • Knowledge of design structures and documents, Work Order handling, NCR reporting.
  • Ability to derive or create work instructions.

Education and Training:

  • BA/BS in an engineering discipline or related discipline with 5+ years of related experience OR MA/MS with 3+ years of experience OR 9+ years of relevant military experience/education
  • Educated in ESD protection, reference ANSI/ESD S20.20 Protection of Electrical and Electronic Parts, Assemblies and Equipment.
  • Ability to derive design requirements and provide input to system requirements.
  • Understanding Design for Manufacturability and Design for Test

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver License
  • If required, able to travel for up to 14-days to conduct training CONUS or OCONUS.

Physical Requirements: (if applicable)

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand and walk for long periods of time.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
