Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writer to support the development of clear, accurate documentation for complex technology-based systems. The ideal candidate will have experience creating structured and user-friendly content that communicates technical information to a variety of audiences.


In this role, you will work closely with subject matter experts, engineers, and product teams to develop a range of documentation, including user guides, quick reference materials, and maintenance instructions. You will help ensure our documentation supports both government and commercial users in understanding and using our products effectively.


This is an excellent opportunity for a technical writer with some hands-on experience who is ready to expand their skills and contribute to a collaborative and fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, write, edit, and tailor technical documentation, including manuals, quick references, and online resources. 
• Translate complex technical information into clear and concise content for various audiences.
• Collaborate with SMEs and engineers to gather information and ensure accuracy.
• Structure and organize documentation to improve usability and accessibility (including individuals for whom English is a second language).

• Maintain and update documentation to reflect product updates and best practices.
• Suggest and implement improvements to documentation processes, techniques, and methodologies.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges during documentation development and delivery phases.
• Possibly assist with training material maintenance or development with support from the training team.

Compensation Range: $78,900 - $98,600

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in writing, information design, communications, or education discipline, with 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • MA/MS degree in an engineering discipline or related discipline, with 1+ years of relevant experience.

Desired Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven experience in technical writing for technology-based systems.

  • Proficiency with documentation tools and content management systems (MS Office, Adobe Products, MadCap Flare).

  • Experience with industry collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint)

  • Understanding of multiple technical document outputs (MS Word, PDF, HTML5)

  • Familiarity with DoD, Aerospace, or FAA programs.
