Software Architect, Giraffe 1x Command and Control

Your role

Giraffe 1X - Command and Control is growing and we need to strengthen our team of software architects. You will have a central and vital role in defining and designing our present and future Command and Control systems for Saabs ground based radar systems. We work closely with our customers both when releasing finished products and working with new concepts and prototypes.

As a software architect, you will be responsible for architectural decisions in the development of command, control and communication software in Java and your main tasks are:

  • Technical leader for development teams

  • Design solutions in close cooperation with stakeholders (internal and external)

  • Support project management with planning and cost estimates

Your profile

To succeed in this role, you need to be interested in the development of new solutions while being able to grasp and adhere to a large and complex framework. You are already a leader but seek to continuously improve your technical leadership with the purpose to make others grow and take responsibility for the complete system solution. You take a systematic approach to visualizing and handling architectural issues.

You are communicative and can explain complex technical concepts in dialogue with both product managers and software developers. You possess strong computer science fundamentals: network protocols, API design, programming languages and distributed systems.

As a person, you are positive, approachable and enjoy teamwork!

Required skills:

  • M.Sc in Computer Engineering and/or Software Engineering or similar relevant experience

  • At least 10 years of experience from working with software development, committing code as well as and handling requirements within software projects (Java, C++, C etc)

  • 5 years of documented experience in a leading software engineering role

  • Documented experience from working with network protocols, Java and Linux

  • Agile software development

  • Fluent communication skills in Swedish and English, verbal and written

Desired skills:

  • Experience from working with military command, control and communication systems

  • Experience from development of safety critical systems, and working with standards such as RTCA DO-278A or IEC 61508

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
