We are seeking an experienced Space Systems Architect to contribute to the ongoing development and evolution of advanced space-domain products.

This is an opportunity to apply your space-domain expertise, systems engineering capability and technical leadership to define architectures and deliver future capabilities in a rapidly evolving operational environment.

Working as part of a global, multi-disciplinary engineering team, you will provide technical direction and oversight across the systems engineering lifecycle, while helping shape product roadmaps and develop the team’s depth of space-domain expertise

Key responsibilities:

As a key member of our team, you will:

  • Provide space-domain expertise and technical input into product roadmaps, particularly Mission Operations capabilities.
  • Lead systems engineering activities including requirements, architecture, design, integration, test and acceptance.
  • Define and deliver system architectures that meet customer capability needs, technical objectives and delivery timeframes.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of space capability concepts and future product enhancements.
  • Apply expertise in spacecraft mission operations, mission control systems, space weather and the space environment.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge transfer across the engineering team.
  • Support future capability investigations, engineering planning and task scoping.
  • Develop technical training materials and user documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, government, Defence, industry and international stakeholders.

About you

You are a detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in logistics engineering and a passion for supporting complex defence systems. You thrive in structured environments and enjoy collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Experience & Skills:

  • Significant experience and expertise within the space domain.
  • Proven experience designing and architecting complex space systems.
  • Experience with spacecraft mission operations and mission control systems.
  • Experience analysing space weather and space-environment data.
  • Demonstrated experience taking space capability concepts through to delivery.
  • A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong technical leadership, mentoring and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with government, Defence and international stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of space-weather forecasting for operational decision-making.
  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics and astrodynamics.

Security Requirements

  • Australian Defence Security Clearance – Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) is required and must be maintained.
  • Candidates must also meet applicable ITAR requirements.
