STRATEGY ANALYST

The role

The Strategy Analyst will support the Strategy Lead and broader Strategy Organisation in implementing the enterprise Strategy, drive business planning activity, undertake market analysis and deliver key business insights to Saab leadership. The role will also be critical in communicating Saab Australia’s strategy and business plans both locally and to our global business. You will work on important strategy, analytical and execution projects that will shape Saab in a rapidly changing global defence and security industry.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Support strategy development and business planning by developing key artefacts and conducting underpinning analysis and stakeholder engagement
  • Support delivery of organisational performance monitoring and reporting against the Strategy, providing insights and actionable recommendations
  • Coordinate the Saab business planning cycle, engage key stakeholders and drive the articulation of initiatives for local and global planning purposes
  • Develop and implement Saab’s strategy and business planning activities connecting key data points and in-depth knowledge
  • Support strategy and business planning communication activities to drive engagement across the business.
  • Build dashboards and other analytical solutions to solve particular business analytical needs and executive reporting, focusing on strategy execution
  • Conduct industry and market analysis, translating numerous data sources into actionable insights to support business growth activities, product development and strategy
  • Lead targeted analytical projects and presentations. This can range from competitor market intelligence through to business model improvement, either independently or as part of a broader team 

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9-day fortnight will be considered after discussion with the manager and successful completion of the probation period.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

Essential:

  • Strong research, Strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong business, commercial and data modelling skills
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills, including supporting tools and methods
  • Strong consultative skills driving engagements with various internal and/or external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, equipped with structured (strategy) tools to simplify complex issues into clear insights and actionable options
  • Experience in compiling data and performing detailed analysis, including identifying trends, forecasting and providing recommendations to management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders to distil deliverable requirements and troubleshoot issues
  • Ability to effectively manage upwards, with the ability to effectively prioritise and manage workloads
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office suite software, , including proficiency in Excel and business intelligence tools (ideally PowerBI)
  • Qualifications in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or related discipline (essential)
  • Candidates with a STEM background and business strategy and/or consulting exposure are also welcome to apply

Desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience in a consulting environment with an established company
  • Experience with defence (industry or Department of Defence)


As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
