Business Unit ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Aerospace Systems has the overall responsibility for aircraft sub-systems developed in strategic partnership to end suppliers (OEM).  The Business Unit develops, produces, delivers and supports complex aircraft structures with integrated systems.

Aerospace Systems has proven excellent experience from aircraft development to a competent partner or supplier. We design, develop and produce integrated aerospace systems through the system’s entire lifecycle. We add value to our customers, owners and society through innovation, sustainability, good quality and secure deliveries.

Saab Aerospace System has been working with India and Indian suppliers for more than 15 years.

In this position you will be located in our office in Bangalore.

As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring supplier performance, product quality, and compliance across our supply chain. You will be responsible for managing and improving supplier delivery performance and quality standards.

In this role, you will lead and support supplier activities throughout the supplier lifecycle — from qualification and audits to deviation handling, root cause analysis, KPI follow up and improvement initiatives. You will work closely with internal stakeholders such as Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Production, and Program Management, as well as with suppliers and customers, to ensure all requirements are clearly communicated and effectively met.

You will act as a key interface between our organization and suppliers, contributing to a robust, high‑performing supply chain that supports on time delivery, compliance, and high product quality.
You will also work cross‑functionally together with colleagues in Quality, Planning, and Operative Procurement, where teamwork and communication are essential.

Together, you will contribute to developing and strengthening our supply chain to meet high demands on performance, quality, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure and develop supplier quality performance in line with business, customer, and regulatory requirements
  • Driving and supporting supplier quality improvement initiatives, including corrective and preventive actions
  • Manage and follow up on supplier deviations, non‑conformances, and quality incidents
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Production, and Program teams
  • Communicate, and maintain supplier quality requirements and standards
  • Monitor and ensure delivery performance from suppliers and initiate corrective actions when necessary
  • Monitor supplier KPIs and report performance to relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with Saab’s internal processes, quality standards, and Supplier Code of Conduct

Required Qualifications / Mandatory Requirements

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Aerospace engineering, quality or Supply Chain
  • Experience in Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, Quality, Engineering or similar roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001, AS/EN 9100 or equivalent) and aerospace regulations
  • Experience conducting, assessments, and performance follow‑ups
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Structured, analytical, and comfortable working in a regulated environment
  • Familiar with Airbus and/or Boeing requirement
     

Preferred / Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working within the defense, aerospace, or automotive industry
  • Knowledge of tools such as 8D, FMEA and PPAP
  • Experience working cross‑functionally in an international organization
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers
  • Proficiency in ERP (such as IFS) and quality management systems

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection.
