The Role:

To be responsible for coordinating and managing strategic and daily procurement activities in order to ensure that Saab Seaeye has world-class supplier quality and delivery capabilities at the lowest possible cost.

Job Specific accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • To establish strategic alliances with key suppliers in order to improve overall supply chain performance in line with company objectives

  • To actively manage supplier performance

  • To work with Product Managers and Engineering functions to establish technology partnership agreements and manage relationships accordingly

  • To support the supplier selection and management of subcontract engineering development work packages

  • To continuously work with existing or new suppliers to achieve cost, quality and delivery targets and increase overall business profitability

  • To actively manage the full supply chain business risk plans

  • To negotiate long-term purchase orders/contracts with key suppliers to ensure delivery of critical customer contracts

  • To build strong supplier relationships, working with new suppliers in a high value/high risk environment, implementing contracts as deemed necessary.

  • To actively manage the RFQ process for new product development.

  • To Plan/Forecast cash flow to support payment terms negotiations.

  • To work closely with the Quality and Material Planning functions to implement business improvements

  • Collaborate and communicate with other Saab supply chain functions in the UK and worldwide developing efficiency opportunities and exploiting synergies

  • Manage a team supporting production material buying, strategic supply chain management and procurement for new products

  • Ensure the above team has the required skills and experience and is organised in the most appropriate manner to meet the needs of the business.

  • To supervise all reporting staff so as to effectively, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities to meet required deadlines.

  • To assess, identify and monitor staff skills and training requirements to avoid exposure and skill shortages to the business.

  • To assess and monitor workloads, efficiency, holiday and effectively manage staff resource levels and report potential shortfalls.

  • To ensure staff time management is effectively managed in line with company time and attendance procedures.

General accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • To work as a proactive member of the Operations Management team to ensure business objectives are met.

  • To use personal judgement and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in day to day activities and procedures within the specified role.

  • To maintain personal ability in, and appropriate use of, all relevant IT (Information and Technology) and other systems required to adequately perform the role.

  • To act ethically, with integrity and in the best interest of the business at all times

  • To maintain a professional and supportive relationship with team members and other departments in order to deliver business objectives or deadlines.

  • To carry out any other duties as detailed by a member of the management team or authorized representative.

  • To keep good time management to minimise any wasted time and maximise productivity and effectiveness.
