The role
As part of our Civil group, the System Integration Engineer - ATM will interface with Air Traffic Management (ATM) product design authority, system developers, Saab-internal project and support teams and the customer, to deliver product integration, remediate issues and identify opportunities for product improvement.
To be successful in this role, you must be highly motivated, demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and have a keen interest in technical and complex software systems, preferably within the Air Traffic Management domain.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Map customer requirements to system solutions based on Saab’s ATM product portfolio.
- Perform requirements analysis, developing requirement specifications and participating in the design, verification and validation of solutions.
- Support the development of interface specifications, system design documents and acceptance test documents, including detailed parameterisation descriptions.
- Effectively contribute to the realisation of ATM projects through integration of ATM Systems.
- Liaise with product software development teams in the specification, design, development and verification of customer-specific solutions.
- Perform integration activities, working with the customer to define, develop and verify the parameterisation aspects of each site’s implementation. Support parameterisation defect prioritisation and support customer validation activities as required.
- Deploy, configure, integrate and test ATM system software and parameterisation in factory and on site.
- Perform activities based on applicable policies, guidelines, cost awareness, rules and procedure (incl. those related to health and safety, quality and environment).
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your education, skills and experience will include:
- Degree in software engineering/computer science degree with suitable recent software experience.
- Eligible for chartered engineering status and state engineering registration (Queensland/Victoria).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in ATM domain including system integration.
- Knowledge of network, network security, XML and Linux.
- Knowledge of virtualisation technologies.
- Test and validation of software.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the system engineering process, including requirements management, system design, integration, test and validation.
- Ability to undertake high-level requirements derivation, system design and implementation.
- Ability to review and interpret specifications, interface documentation, drawings and estimates.
- Understand complex technical issues and manage them within project cost, time and quality constraints.
- Ability to write clear and precise technical reports.
- Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Demonstrated awareness and ability to address whole of capability/systems issues, such as safety, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), cybersecurity and supportability.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Experience in the Air Traffic Management domain is highly desirable.
As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to baseline level or have the ability to gain one.
