Saab, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering, Integration & Test team to develop complex software-intensive surveillance systems for commercial and government customers. This role is critical to successfully developing products and executing projects to achieve Saab’s vision – It’s a human right to feel safe. The location of this position is flexible; the successful candidate will either work onsite at our East Syracuse, NY, office or remotely support the development activities there. Hardware and software integration activities may require extended periods of onsite work.

Saab, Inc. has an opening for a Product Development Systems Engineer in East Syracuse, NY. Our team designs, develops and improves state-of-the-art products for Air Traffic Surveillance and Air Traffic Management systems.

As a Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Perform design analysis, hands-on integration, and troubleshooting of complex, software intensive systems

  • Apply and expand your product design engineering skills

  • Define, evaluate, and maintain system and subsystem requirements

  • Support customers and our own engineers with system deployments throughout the world

  • Be a key member of multi-disciplinary engineering teams

Our products include air traffic controller display systems, multilateration systems and sensors, surface movement radar, ADS-B, GNSS, target tracking, sensor fusion, networked data interfaces, embedded and server Linux environments, IP networking, etc.

Compensation Range: $85,000-$106,200

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or mathematics from an accredited institution or relevant military education & training

  • 2-5 years of post-baccalaureate experience and/or education

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Experience designing/debugging software intensive systems in a server environment

  • Experience developing or troubleshooting in a high-level computing language such as Matlab, C/C++, Java, etc.

  • A record of meeting technical and project objectives

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Expertise Desired:

  • Linux, Bash, and IP networking system skills

  • Experience using Matlab for data processing and analysis

  • Requirements writing and management

  • SysML UML, or model-based design experience

  • Safety-critical system and software development, especially DO-178/278 or ED-109A/153 or experience in another safety related industry
     

Travel:

  • Opportunities for domestic and international travel (less than 15%).

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
