Your role

We are on an exciting journey within cloud technology and AI, aiming to deliver products and services faster and more efficiently—ultimately benefiting our customers and Saab as a whole. In this role, you will be part of this transformation within Core Technology and Platform, a unit within the Business Unit Digital Battlespace Solutions (BU DBS).

As Systems Engineer Software Transformation within Core Development and Platform, you will be involved in the development and implementation of cloud-based solutions for our Command and Control (C2) platforms across all domains within BU DBS. You will be part of our programme that is developing and delivering our new cloud platform.

A central duty will be to facilitate the transfer of current C2 systems from current platforms to the new platform.

Description of work:

  • Analyse SW architecture of existing non-cloud system applications and outline migration path and activities for each system to transform them into a virtualized runtime environment

  • Facilitation of the transfer of current C2 systems from current platforms to the new platform.

  • Participating in championing of the adoption of cloud-native C2 solutions.

  • Suggest suitable SW tools that support transformation from legacy to Cloud and Microservices Architecture

  • Collaboration with other parts of BU DBS and also other parts of Saab.

Some travel may be required in this role.

Your profile

We are seeking a highly technical and experienced systems engineer or full stack software developer with a deep understanding of both cloud and classical technologies and development processes. Ideally, you also have experience with military C2 systems. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and you build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

  • A strong technical background with expertise in cloud technologies, including virtualization and SW container technologies.

  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture and development, including the underlying technical complexities.

  • Fluency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.

Experience of the following is considered meritorious:

  • Hyperscalers from the mayor suppliers

  • Kubernetes

  • Cyber security requirements for both NATO and Sweden

  • NATO frameworks and doctrines

  • Understanding of end-user requirements and needs, preferably in the Defense sector.

  • GIS tools or technologies
