Lead Verification Excellence Across Complex Defence Systems

We are seeking an experienced Test & Evaluation Manager to lead the planning, execution, and optimisation of verification activities across complex, software-intensive defence systems.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring that system requirements are clear, testable, and rigorously verified, while aligning verification strategy with broader program objectives across the full system lifecycle.

The Opportunity

Operating within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will provide technical leadership across verification and validation (V&V), ensuring robust test strategies, efficient execution, and high-quality outcomes.

You will work closely with Systems Engineering and Project Engineering leadership to ensure cohesion, integrity, and alignment of test and evaluation activities across programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, optimisation, and execution of system test and evaluation activities
  • Develop and implement verification strategies across hardware and software domains
  • Ensure system requirements are testable, traceable, and objectively verified
  • Oversee execution of test activities, including analysis of results and reporting
  • Maintain all verification artefacts and documentation in line with governance requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and assurance across verification activities and enabling systems
  • Coordinate closely with Project Engineering Managers to align verification with program delivery
  • Contribute to broader systems engineering and validation activities

Leadership & Impact

  • Lead and guide test and evaluation teams, ensuring effective delivery and decision-making
  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and optimise verification performance across programs
  • Influence stakeholders across engineering, delivery, and customer environments
  • Drive continuous improvement in verification processes, tools, and methodologies

About You

You are a technically strong and delivery-focused engineering leader with deep experience in verification and validation of complex systems.

You bring a structured, analytical approach combined with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive high-quality engineering outcomes in regulated environments.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in system verification, test and evaluation within complex engineering programs
  • Proven capability across:
    • Test planning and execution
    • Verification strategy development
    • Requirement’s verification and traceability
    • Test documentation and reporting
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Systems engineering lifecycle
    • Engineering governance and configuration management
    • Integration of hardware and software systems
  • Experience working with engineering toolsets such as:
    • Jira
    • IFS Applications
    • Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Qualification:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or related discipline

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
