Saab UK sponsors Royal Artillery Ski Team
We are pleased to announce Saab UK’s sponsorship of the Royal Artillery Ski Team as part of their alpine racing in Les Deux Alpes, where 74 of their junior officers and soldiers are currently training.
Saab and the Royal Artillery have a long-standing relationship, with our Giraffe AMB and MAMBA radars being used by Royal Artillery soldiers. This technology has kept their soldiers at the forefront of the battlefield, with our leading-edge sensor solutions giving them time to act.
The ski team are in Les Deux Alpes for the Gunner alpine racing training scheme and Corps Championships. Over the next three weeks, the soldiers will develop their mental and physical resilience during training, with a military championship race series taking place in January 2024.
As part of their training, the team will practice their teamwork, management, and leadership skills, and for many this is their first time on snow. In the new year, they will be racing technical slalom, giant slalom, and super G. Participants will compete to take part in the Army Winter Sports Association (AWSA) championships, where they will reach speeds of up to 70mph on the downhill.
