Saabs new UK Training & Simulation site in South West England officially opened
Saab UK has officially opened its new Training & Simulation site in South West England, further strengthening its support for British Army training and operational readiness. The site was opened by Kit Malthouse, Member of Parliament for North West Hampshire and attended by elected officials and civic leaders.
The new facility expands Saab UK’s Training & Simulation footprint and provides a dedicated hub for advanced training technologies and services. It supports the delivery of realistic, immersive and scalable training environments, helping the British Army prepare for the demands of modern and future operations. With its opening, Saab UK now operates five Training & Simulation locations across the UK, alongside one site in Germany.

Saab has worked in partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence and the British Army for more than 30 years, delivering innovative training systems ranging from individual soldier capabilities to complex, multi‑domain training exercises.
Andy Fraser, Group Managing Director at Saab UK, said:
“The opening of this new site underlines Saab’s long‑term commitment to supporting the British Army and investing in the UK. By expanding our Training & Simulation capabilities, we are strengthening our ability to deliver advanced training solutions while creating opportunities for skills development and employment in the region.”

Kit Malthouse MP said:
“I welcome Saab UK’s decision to open a new facility in the South West, supporting training and simulation capabilities for the British Army. At a time of growing global uncertainty, it is vital that our armed forces have access to high‑quality training to ensure they are fully prepared for the challenges ahead. Andover has a strong and proud connection to the British Army, and I am pleased to see Saab UK investing in the area.”

The opening builds on Saab’s continued growth in the UK, including a £20 million contract amendment announced in 2024 to support British Army live training through Saab’s latest high‑fidelity simulation technology and interoperability standards.
This new facility further reinforces Saab’s role as a trusted partner to UK defence and its long‑term investment in British capability.
