Saab’s SAFE Selected by South Wales Police and Gwent Police
Saab’s unifed command and control solution SAFE has been selected by both South Wales Police and Gwent Police as part of a new sole supplier framework agreement created by the forces Joint Digital Services Division.
The two forces will become the sixth and seventh police forces respectively to use the Saab unified command and control solution. Jointly the forces serve around two million members of the public and employ around 7,000 officers and staff.
SAFE replaces a range of legacy control room solutions with a single user interface that offers a truly unified platform for mission critical incident and operations management and empowers users to make more informed decisions, faster. The solution increases resolution at first contact, improves customer satisfaction and enables resources to operate more efficiently.
The new framework agreement, which is open to the majority of Welsh Emergency Services to procure from, is valid for the next four years.
South Wales Police and Gwent Police will join five other forces who have already procured SAFE: Cheshire Constabulary, West Mercia Police, Cumbria Police, Nottinghamshire Police and An Garda Siochána.
Saab has around 300 UK staff located across five offices across the country. Saab’s public safety team deliver the SAFE solution from both its Hull base at the Centre for Digital Innovation (C4Di) and Gothenburg base in Lindholmen, Sweden. SAFE has been developed in partnership with the emergency services and is operational in the control rooms of over 30 organisations across the UK, Europe and the USA.
