Marking 78 Years of Excellence: Saab Salutes the U.S. Air Force
As the U.S. Air Force marks 78 years of service to the nation, Saab, Inc. celebrates its proud partnership supporting America’s Airmen with innovative training systems, domestic manufacturing and a shared commitment to advancing airpower for the future.
The U.S. Air Force may be one of the youngest military branches, formally established in 1947, but in less than a century, it has become the world’s premier air force and its impact on America’s national security cannot be overstated.
Preparing the next generation of pilots
As the Air Force celebrates this milestone, Saab is honored to play a role in preparing the next generation of U.S. fighter and bomber pilots. In partnership with Boeing, Saab is helping deliver the T-7A Red Hawk, an advanced training system designed to shape the future of air combat training.
The T-7A combines modern avionics and embedded training systems in a single system. It will prepare more than 1,000 pilots each year for the challenges of tomorrow’s battlefields. Over the coming years, an estimated 350 T-7A Red Hawk aircraft will be delivered to the U.S. Air Force.
Built in America, for America’s Airmen
Saab produces the T-7A’s aft fuselage at a state-of-the-art facility in West Lafayette, Indiana. Opened in 2021, this domestic production facility strengthens the U.S. defense industrial base and creates high-quality American manufacturing jobs.
Saab employs several Air Force veterans who remain dedicated to continuing their mission of service. By working at Saab, they carry forward their commitment to excellence and making a positive impact.
“As a veteran of the Air Force, it’s important for me to support the next generation of U.S. armed forces. Working at Saab and on the T-7A Red Hawk program, I feel a great sense of purpose. This work matters. It’s ensuring that our Air Force has the best possible training, so that at the end of the day, we have a greater chance of mission success, of keeping America secure, and of our soldiers coming home safe and sound at the end of the day,” said Judah K., who works in manufacturing at Saab, Inc.
Looking ahead
For 78 years, the Air Force has played an unparalleled role in defense of America, securing the skies while advancing the boundaries of technology and innovation.
Saab is proud to support the mission to fly, fight and win and looks forward to delivering solutions that will keep America’s armed forces prepared for decades to come.
