FMV places order for Gripen support and maintenance
The defence and security company Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to support and maintain Gripen throughout 2014 on behalf of the Swedish Armed Forces. The total value of the order is approximately 174 MSEK.
The received order applies to services for 2014 and the option called is part of a framework of a previously signed contract with FMV regarding performance-based support and maintenance of Gripen. The contract was signed in June 2012. The order comprises support and maintenance operations and ensures the continued operation of Gripen inSweden,CzechRepublic,HungaryandThailandwith a focus on delivering technical documents, ground equipment, component maintenance and more.
"This order is fundamental for efficient and accessible operations with the Gripen system in the current year," says Lars-Erik Wige, Head of Saab's Support and Services business area.
The work will take place at Saab's facilities in Linköping, Arboga, Järfälla, Gothenburg and Östersund.
The original contract with FMV includes options for additional orders up to a maximum value of SEK 1.36 billion until the period ending in December 2016. With this order, a total of 795 MSEK of the available options have been called up.
