Reaching higher tones: Saab and the Göteborg Opera in a partnership

2 min read

Saab and the Göteborg Opera are in a collaboration with the aim of creating cultural experiences beyond borders. Through the "Skapa” department, we want to inspire more people, especially children and youth, to get involved, learn, and love the world of performing arts.

Saab has a long-term commitment to social sustainability in Bergsjön, and with this new partnership with the Göteborg Opera (in Gothenburg), we will be able to engage the younger generation in Bergsjön even more. Culture is an important carrier of democracy and a starting point for creating a meaningful everyday life for people and giving them the courage to express feelings, thoughts, and dreams.

"In the world of culture, we can find the possibility to express ourselves in new ways. Creativity is also a basic prerequisite for creating new innovations and challenging established ways of thinking, to find better solutions for our future", says Markus Borgljung, deputy head of business area Surveillance, Saab.

Social engagement as a platform for the future
Our sustainability strategy is part of our business strategy, and it is of great importance that we constantly deliver value to society and our shareholders.
At Saab we work with social aspects in many ways, which is an important way of contributing to a more inclusive and diversified society where people can find ways to express themselves.
The Göteborg Opera presents around 350 performances a year to 250,000 visitors, made possible by around 500 full-time employees.

"Through the "Skapa” department we offer an arena for cultural expression and performing arts, where children and young people get the opportunity to give voice to their emotional range through opera, dance, and choral singing. We are proud that Saab supports this important mission"

About “Skapa” at the Göteborg Opera
Skapa activities include encouraging participation, broadening audience demographics, and increasing engagement. In short, Skapa´s aim is to minimize barriers to entry and create an opera house that reaches as many people as possible. Accessibility and the development of platforms are the basis for ensuring both old and new stories can be told, to make space for voices that are not often heard.
