As a Proof Firing Officer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising proof-firing activities for weapons and ammunition. You will ensure that all test requirements, firing procedures, and approved test parameters are verified before trials commence, while inspecting weapons, ammunition, fixtures, measuring instruments, and test setups to confirm readiness and compliance.

In this role, you will maintain the highest standards of safety by ensuring adherence to approved safety procedures, range instructions, and defence security requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Production, Engineering, Ammunition, Maintenance, and Safety, to ensure efficient and effective test execution.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the proper handling, identification, storage, and accountability of ammunition used during testing, while verifying that all test equipment and measuring instruments are calibrated and fit for purpose.

As the expert on the test range, you will have the responsibility to stop or suspend testing whenever unsafe conditions arise or deviations from approved procedures are identified.

In addition to operational responsibilities, you will lead the development and continuous training of all Proof Firing personnel. You will also support external inspections and audits, contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel within the facility, and carry out additional duties as required to support operational and organizational objectives. A strong focus on safety leadership is essential, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety standards, procedures, and best practices for all associates.

Through proactive engagement and continuous improvement initiatives, you will help foster a culture where safety, compliance, and operational excellence are embedded in daily activities.
