We are seeking an experienced Specialty Engineering Lead- Land Systems to provide subject matter expertise for maintaining and growing a suite of Specialist Engineering capabilities, namely in the disciplines of Safety, Security, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Configuration & Data Management and Modelling & Analysis; supporting the integration of communications systems to specify, design, develop, gain acceptance of. The role leads complex technical investigations, develops engineering solutions, provides specialist advice and supports design reviews, test activities, quality assurance and working groups across the program.

The Specialist Engineering Lead will lead the multidisciplinary and specialty engineering teams, to resolve technical issues, manage risks and ensure engineering outcomes comply with applicable standards, regulatory requirements and project objectives.

The Role

The Specialty Engineering Lead – Land Capability will be accountable for

Key responsibilities:

  • To identify and plan Specialty Engineering tasks to ensure activities are adequately scoped;

  • Deliver Specialty Engineering activities as part of project scope, in accordance with approved plans;

  • Provide Specialty Engineering advice and services to support project and business activities;

  • Monitor and Report on Specialty Engineering tasks;

  • Estimation of Specialty Engineering activities;

  • Engineering delivery quality assurance;

  • Participate or if delegated coordinate in working groups;

  • Participate in Product and Project/Program MSRs;

  • Participate in Product IPRs.

Provide technical leadership and mentoring with a focus on fostering talent development, team cohesion, and a culture of continuous improvement.

About you

You will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in systems engineering, with significant experience in

complex systems, and software intensive systems

You will bring:

  • Relevant professional certifications in systems engineering or related fields

  • Proficient understanding of systems engineering principles and practices in complex systems and their integration as well as proficient understanding of System Engineering in an ASDEFCON context

  • Proficiency in using advanced systems engineering software tools and simulation environments

  • Proven ability to mentor engineering teams. Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Continuous learning mindset with a willingness to adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

  • Demonstrate self-awareness and commitment to personal development, leading by example.

  • Utilise a collaborative, accountable, and innovative approach to deliver results.

  • Stay relevant in their expertise, adapting proactively to changing needs.

Security & ITAR

  • Australian Defence Security Clearance – NV1 is required. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.

  • Ability to access and work with ITAR-controlled information
