As a Warehouse Leader, you will be responsible for leading and supervising warehouse operators, forklift operators, and material-handling personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate warehouse operations. You will oversee all aspects of material flow, including receiving, inspection, storage, picking, kitting, and dispatch activities, while always ensuring inventory accuracy and proper material identification.
In this role, you will work closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, Logistics, and Planning teams to ensure that materials are available according to production schedules and business requirements. You will monitor warehouse capacity and space utilization, optimize storage locations, and ensure compliance with FIFO (First In, First Out), FEFO (First Expired, First Out), and batch or lot traceability requirements where applicable.
You will be responsible for maintaining inventory integrity through cycle counts and periodic physical inventories, investigating discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. The role also includes ensuring the proper handling, storage, and control of hazardous, sensitive, or regulated materials in accordance with company procedures and relevant regulations.
Safety leadership is a key aspect of the position. You will ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, material-handling standards, housekeeping expectations, and 5S principles while actively promoting a strong safety culture throughout the warehouse. You will also monitor the condition and usage of forklifts and other material-handling equipment, reporting maintenance requirements and ensuring equipment remains safe and operational.
In addition, you will prepare and maintain warehouse performance reports covering inventory status, receipts, dispatches, shortages, discrepancies, and operational KPIs. You will play an active role in driving continuous improvements focused on productivity, inventory accuracy, service levels, and cost efficiency.
You will prepare and maintain comprehensive warehouse reports covering daily activities, inventory status, goods receipts, material issues, dispatches, stock accuracy, inventory aging, FIFO/FEFO compliance, damages, shortages, warehouse KPIs, equipment utilization, 5S audits, pending materials, and non-conformances. These reports will provide critical insights into warehouse performance, support decision-making, ensure inventory integrity, and drive continuous improvements across warehouse operations.
As a people leader, you will be responsible for the training, coaching, and ongoing development of warehouse personnel. This includes conducting team training sessions, facilitating one-on-one development discussions, coordinating external technical training opportunities.
The role also includes supporting external audits and inspections, contributing to facility-wide safety initiatives, and performing additional responsibilities as required to support operational objectives. You will champion the development and maintenance of associate safety standards, helping to create a workplace culture built on safety, quality, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Your profile
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of experience in warehouse operations and material handling within a precision engineering manufacturing environment, preferably in the Defence, Chemical, or Heavy Industry sectors.
- Experience working in an international or European manufacturing environment is considered an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management principles, inventory control, and material flow processes.
- Good understanding of IFS and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience with inventory management, stock control, and inventory accuracy processes.
- Knowledge of FIFO (First In, First Out), FEFO (First Expired, First Out), and batch/lot traceability requirements.
- Familiarity with 5S methodology, continuous improvement practices, and warehouse housekeeping standards.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety regulations, material-handling procedures, and risk management principles.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop warehouse teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong planning, organizational, and coordination abilities.
- Analytical mindset with effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Preferred Experience
Experience working with, monitoring, and driving performance improvements in key warehouse KPIs, including:
- Inventory accuracy and stock control.
- On-time material availability to support production schedules.
- Order fulfilment and dispatch accuracy.
- Picking accuracy and traceability compliance.
- Stock variance analysis and inventory reconciliation.
- Warehouse space utilization and storage optimization.
- Reduction of material damage, losses, and waste.
- Monitoring and improving material-handling equipment uptime and performance.
- Management of slow-moving and non-moving inventory.
- Implementation and monitoring of 5S standards and safety compliance.
- Workforce planning, manpower utilization, and productivity improvement.
- KPI reporting, performance analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection.
