Saab has successfully conducted the Water Spray test with the Gripen E, which attests the fighter's ability to operate in adverse situations. The activities were performed in June at the Gripen Flight Test Centre (GFTC) at Embraer's facilities, in Gavião Peixoto, in the interior of the São Paulo state.
Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, FMV, to provide future development support for Gripen from April 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022. The total order value is SEK 998 million.

The new fighter for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), the F-39 Gripen E, has begun performing supersonic flight tests in Brazil. The aircraft, based at the Gripen Test Flight Centre (GFTC) at Embraer's facilities in Gavião Peixoto (SP), has been carrying out the flights over the designated test areas north west of the base. All flights follow authority-defined procedures and take place at high altitude, above 5.000 meters.
Saab's aerospace plant in Brazil has completed production of the first pair of air brakes for Gripen E. The parts will be shipped to Linköping, Sweden, in early April, as per the company's production schedule.
The Gripen E, named F-39E Gripen by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), was officially presented today, October 23, during the celebrations of Aviators’ Day and the Brazilian Air Force Day, at Wing 1, in Brasília. The aircraft flew over the air base after an air display of the Brazilian Smoke Squadron.

Today, September 24, the first Brazilian Gripen E, designated by Brazilian Air Force (FAB) as F-39 Gripen, concluded its first flight in Brazil. The aircraft flew from the airport in Navegantes to Embraer´s facility in Gavião Peixoto.
