The Success Story of Carl-Gustaf Continues

The Carl-Gustaf® system has a long and distinguished history, but that does not stop the system from continuing successes. In 2018 Saab announced its tenth customer for the latest version of the system, the Carl-Gustaf M4, and game-changing innovations lies ahead.

The last year was a really busy one for Carl-Gustaf M4: the tenth customer was received; the announcement of a demonstration of the upcoming guided munition for the U.S. Army; as well as the the 70th anniversary of the system was celebrated.

With all the successes in the system’s history there is no sign that it is about to stop or even slow down. Customers that uses old versions of the system are now looking into an upgrade to the latest version.

“The recent successes of Carl-Gustaf M4 is a clear proof that our customers values the capabilities the system provides. We are seeing a growing interest for the system in India as well, where we have a history of four decades of good cooperation”, says Bo Thörn, Head of FFV Ordnance.

Since the introduction of the very first version of Carl-Gustaf, for more than 70 years ago, a lot has happened. The latest version weighs under 7 kg, has improved ergonomics and was developed with the future in mind to support future innovations such as programmable ammunition and intelligent sighting systems.

Carl-Gustaf M4 will be showcased during Aero India, 20-24 February in Bengaluru, at the Saab stand C3.2.
