Saab Innovation Network

The Saab UK Innovation network is a bridge between Saab and UK universities, government and industry. Here we identify and engage in innovation research projects to give input to and support the long-term development of Saab’s product portfolio. Part of this includes developing UK IP which directly supports Saab UK’s growth.

Why the UK?

The United Kingdom and more specifically the I-HUB provides an excellent place to base the Innovation Network due to its unique critical infrastructure cluster. Here, world-leading academics, innovative startups and corporate partners work side by side.

Our close work with Strategic Command Innovation, NATO Innovation DIANA European HQ and DASA ensures we remain at the forefront of innovation and technology. The UK offers Saab not only a vast STEM network but also a wealth of world-leading scientists and academics.

What is the Innovation Network’s areas of focus?

Centred at Imperial Collage’s I-HUB in White City, the Innovation Network seeks to identify and apply for relevant UK research funding opportunities within Saab UK’s focus technology areas Radar Solutions, Electronic Warfare, Underwater Defence and Public Safety.

University Partnerships

We are proud of our university partnerships in the UK. We are approaching 10 funded doctoral research programs into emerging technologies across four universities.

The Innovation Network also links Saab’s cutting-edge research around radar technology with ongoing work across the UK, such as at Cranfield University, where Saab has developed the UK’s first Digital Control Tower.

Triple Helix

The Innovation Network allows us to focus on collaborative working and developing our innovative thinking according to the triple helix of innovation – a set of interactions between academia, industry and government to foster economic and social development. At Saab we invest nearly a quarter of our revenue in research and design, creating the technologies that will improve people’s lives, to help societies grow and prosper.
