Hawaii Pilots Association Selects Saab's PILOTCONTROL

2 min read

Saab received an order from the Hawaii Pilots Association (HPA) to implement PilotControl – a comprehensive pilotage management and billing system in use across the globe.

With this proven solution, marine pilotage organisations effectively and efficiently manage their pilotage activities. It allows customers to more effectively communicate with agents, more easily manage operations and speed up revenue streams with automated invoicing. The solution also makes it easier to manage pilots' qualifications using the licencing and certification module.

"Our pilots are critical to facilitate trade between the Hawaiian Islands and further supporting commerce with the mainland. As a remote US island state, Hawaii relies on maritime trade to move essential goods. We need to efficiently deliver our services to the shipping industry on a daily basis" says Captain Tom Heberle, President of the Hawaii Pilots Association, "As a returning customer, we have confidence in Saab's PilotControl to help our business succeed in addressing the demands of our customers and managing our pilots."

The order includes a ten-year maintenance contract, establishing a long-term relationship between Hawaii Pilots Association and Saab.

"It is great to welcome back Hawaii Pilots Association as a customer. With PilotControl they will be able to further streamline operations and manage the delivery of valuable and critical service to the Hawaiian Islands and its trading partners," says Jessica Öberg, head of Saab business area Industrial Products and Services.

PilotControl is in use around the world, including a modernized system deployed to meet the complex requirements of the Great Lakes Pilotage Authority and the Great Lakes Pilotage Office of the US Coast Guard in 2017. Other upcoming deployments include the Brisbane Marine Pilotage in Australia, as well as at DanPilot, the Danish State Maritime Pilotage organisation.
