We are looking for an R&D Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and develop the R&D infrastructure that enables our Engineering teams to create next-generation electronic warfare systems. In this role, your work will directly support product development and testing activities.
Your role
This is not a traditional IT support role. Acting as a bridge between IT and engineering teams, you will create and maintain the environments needed to develop and validate advanced defense technology. The role combines system administration, laboratory engineering, cybersecurity, and product platform support in a highly collaborative R&D environment.
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for setting up, developing, and maintaining our laboratory systems, physical servers, engineering tools, networked test environments, and Windows-based product platforms. You will provide support in product demonstrations and installations for needed connectivity and equipment setup. As part of a wider Engineering Support team, you will also provide backup support for DevOps-related activities.
Main Responsibilities
- Set up, develop, and maintain development, laboratory, and test infrastructure, including networks and physical engineering equipment.
- Administer Windows and Linux servers supporting engineering activities.
- Maintain engineering systems, development tools, user access models, and infrastructure configurations used in product development.
- Own and maintain the Windows-based platform used in one of our delivered products, including Windows OS upgrades, lifecycle management, security hardening, and configuration control.
- Troubleshoot issues affecting development infrastructure, laboratory systems, test environments, and product platform deployments.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Support DevOps tools and processes during peak workloads and holiday seasons.
Your profile
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience administering Linux-based systems and servers.
- Experience with Windows environments, including device provisioning, image management, or OS lifecycle management.
- Experience with server maintenance, system administration, and infrastructure support.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, operating systems, and device lifecycle management.
- Experience supporting software, testing, or engineering environments and equipment.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and system hardening practices.
- Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Finnish and English.
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with DevOps processes and tools such as GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, or similar.
