Erik Smith is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Saab, Inc. Headquartered in Syracuse, New York with 11 locations in the United States, Saab, Inc. delivers advanced systems in aeronautics, weapons, command and control, sensors and underwater systems to the United States armed forces, the Federal Aviation Administration and commercial partners.
Mr. Smith has over 25 years of Aerospace and Defense industry experience across a broad cross section of the marketplace. He has developed and executed major U.S. and international business with a broad range of industry and government partners serving the defense, intelligence, civil aviation and commercial healthcare technologies markets.
Since joining Saab in 2007, Mr. Smith has held multiple positions of increasing responsibility within the company’s Marketing and Sales, Contracts and Program Management organizations. He led the legacy (Sensis Corp.) defense business through its 2011 acquisition by Saab and has consistently demonstrated a strong track record of business growth and effective stakeholder relationship development.
Prior to joining Saab, Mr. Smith held key Program Management and Contract Management positions at Raytheon Company. He holds a BA in International Political Science and Eastern Philosophy from Roger Williams University, an MBA from Syracuse University’s Walter J. Whitman School of Management and completed the Stanford University graduate school of business Stanford Executive Program.
He holds a seat on several boards including CenterState CEO, Clear Path for Veterans and the Roger Williams University Board of Trustees.
