Enhanced surveillance and infrastructure monitoring for critical underwater operations
In the world today there is an increased need for surveillance and to keep critical routes cleared and underwater infrastructure surveyed.
There is also an increased need for faster response and high availability as well as for stand-off operation and keeping personnel outside dangerous areas.
Operational concept
The AUV62-MR is designed to undertake long-endurance submerged missions over large areas.
These can be performed with different levels of operator interaction; either longer missions fully autonomously or. Communication links features transfer position, status information, as well as offloading of gathered sonar data.
Adapted for mine reconnaissance, the system includes a payload module with a double-sided, dual row sonar array with a low sonar gap under the vehicle. The module also includes a high-end computer system for onboard Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) processing, which means data is available directly on the vehicle. The vehicle supports sonar imaging at high travel speeds which enables a large range of operations and makes sure it maintains a constant coverage rate.
The robust AUV62-MR has a modular design, based on the proven AUV62 platform, offering high levels of future upgradability as well as an intuitive mission planning suite.
Due to its flexibility and adaptable components, the AUV62-MR can be launched and recovered from multiple platforms such as ships, or from shore.
It is intentionally designed to be similar to a Heavyweight Torpedo, using Saabs technical platform, with the same mechanical and electrical interfaces to enable future integration and operation from submarine.
The system is hydro-dynamically stable, highly reliable and boasts exceptional performance with low lifecycle costs, which makes it ideal for MCM operations.
Independent of mission type, the AUV62-MR has a common infrastructure with shared with the AUV62 platform enables high guarantee of spare parts and long in-service time with options for upgrades during the life cycle.
The AUV62-MR support system consists of four sub-systems: a Mission Planning and Evaluation Unit, a battery recharging system, LARS and an Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) package.
The complete system can be operated from a standard 20-foot container which can be used for transport and as a stand-alone base of operation.
- High Coverage Rate: Ensures consistent coverage, even in shallow waters and poor visibility conditions.
- Long-Endurance Missions: Designed for long missions over large areas with possibility of varying levels of operator interaction.
- Flexible Launch and Recovery: Can be launched and recovered from multiple platforms, including ships, quay and shore.
- Modular Design: Shares common subsystems and modules with battle proven AUV62-AT platform which means high availability and reliability of system.
