Aerostructures factory

São Bernardo do Campo (SP)

Established in 2018, in the city of São Bernardo do Campo, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, it is Saab's first aerostructure factory outside of Sweden. In this facility, the tail cone, the aerodynamic brakes, the rear and front fuselage for Gripen E of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) are being produced.

The implementation of the Brazilian aerostructures factory took place in May 2018 with the inauguration of the facilities in São Bernardo do Campo. The factory spans across an area of 5,000 m² and utilizes digital technology to optimize manufacturing processes and to eliminate paper documentation.

The facility is part of Saab's global supply chain for Gripen E, with the production of tail cones and aerodynamic brakes starting in June 2020.

The factory reached a new milestone in November 2021, with the start of wing assembly for the Gripen E. Additionally, Saab completed production of the first front fuselage for the fighter in November 2022.

Establishing Gripen fighter production in Brazil is part of Saab's commitment to supporting the program's continuity, creating skilled jobs, and supporting the development of the local defense industry.
