Why is realism needed for all live training?

2 min read

Live training is about experiencing the most realistic elements of combat, before those skills are needed, in advance.

Training systems must be flexible and efficient and as realistic as possible. The most important prerequisite for training efficiency is just that - realism. Realism that makes it possible to train just the way you operate in your mission. Realism provides instant and correct feedback that is fundamental for the learning process at all levels. It is crucial that Marines get the maximum effect from the training they do and feel confident in the tasks they are about to do; this can best be done with realistic scenarios as close as possible to real operations.

"Our systems are used for training at all levels, from individual, squad or platoon level right up to and beyond brigade combat team level. It’s equally important that each individual get the correct training and the information built on lower level to be used as base for adequate data to analyse and learn on higher levels well as the larger groups", says Major (retired) Hans Lindgren, former Swedish military officer and now Head of Business Development, at Training & Simulation in Saab.

Saab has a distinguished history of development and manufacturing of live training tools. Saab offers state-of-the-art products with complete solutions and realism beyond anything else on the market that are interoperable with other Forces worldwide.
