Flight Control Systems

Primary Flight Control for fixed wing aircraft

Saab has proven expertise in developing real-time, safety-critical control
computers for fixed-wing flight control. We provide in-house development of
both hardware (HW) and software (SW), including application software. Our
computer solutions are based on a common modular product platform, enabling
cost-efficient customization.

Primary Flight Electromechanical Actuation
The primary actuator system is developed as a scalable and modular solution,
incorporating a wide range of existing components. It can also support
secondary features on the aircraft.

Primary Flight Control Computers
Comprehensive, size- and weight-efficient primary flight control systems –
ranging from safety-critical real-time flight control computers to
electromechanical actuators. These solutions are adaptable for both fixed-wing
and rotary-wing UAVs.

Primary Flight Control for helicopters
Flight control systems specifically tailored to meet the challenging
environmental requirements and strict weight-efficiency demands of
helicopters. Based on a common modular product platform, these solutions
allow for cost-efficient customization.

High Lift Systems
Comprehensive systems extending from the cockpit lever to the flap/slat
surface, suitable for both military and commercial aircraft. Electromechanical
systems are available in both centrally driven and distributed architectures.
Designed to operate both slats (leading edge) and flaps (trailing edge) systems.

Presentation of Flight Control Systems

Mattias Johansson, chief engineer at Saab, Avionics Systems presents our Flight Control Systems. From our Civil Aviation Webinar November 20th.

Did you know...

Qantas just set a new world record for longest flight New York-Sydney with a Boeing 787 aircraft. This was made possible partly through Avionics Systems electric flap system which improves the aerodynamics during flight through autonomously optimized trailing edge deflection which in turn reduces fuel burn.
