Empowering Australia’s armed forces with training and simulation solutions to support the pursuit of excellence in developing combat behaviours.

Realistic training is vital if armed forces are to achieve mission success. To this end, Saab Australia delivers a wide range of training and simulation products and services to provide the Australian Defence Force with world-leading, high fidelity, live simulation capability at the point of need.

Saab’s training and simulation solutions are modular and scalable, easily configurable to the user need and fully deployable in home station locations. With an installed base of live training equipment in 35 countries worldwide, Saab can ensure full interoperability with Australia’s principal allies, including the United States, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Scalable live training

Live training exercises, including those performed in conjunction with our partner nations, provide troops with a dynamic, sensory-filled experience that closely resembles battlefield conditions.

Saab’s live training solutions give armed forces realistic and meaningful scenarios and can be scaled from the individual up to brigade.

With our experience working with armed forces across the globe, we are experts at tailoring our training services to suit any environment in which troops may have to operate.

Saab’s Gunnery and Manoeuvre Exercise (GAMER) live simulation training system is a world-leading modular capability. It provides unparalleled realism in live training through true ballistic simulation and high fidelity, eye-safe, laser technology networked through a highly reliable communications system. GAMER’s Exercise Control node allows instructors to dynamically manipulate the scenario and support comprehensive real-time and post-action reviews to optimise the value of training, including the use of immersive mixed-reality technology.

From a maximum of 120 players with the ManPack120 configuration to 10,000 players in a deployable or fixed combat training centre, these configurations can be used singly or combined, depending on requirements.

The GAMER system is flexible and scalable, using portable, mobile and fixed communication base station configurations.

Weapon simulators

Saab provides simulators for a large number of direct-fire and indirect-fire weapons, including our own Carl-Gustaf, AT4 and NLAW direct-fire support weapon systems. These simulators exactly match the physical and functional characteristics of operational weapons, including sighting systems and ammunition natures.

Unmatched realism in combined arms training

GAMER users can create a wider range of simulation training capabilities by adding Expansion Packs and the SISO UCATT Laser Engagement Interface, which allows full ballistic simulation. These capabilities include indirect-fire weapon systems; urban training; chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear training; and precision gunnery training.

The additions maximise the re-use and value of earlier investments and provide scalable capability to create all-arms exercises with unparalleled laser fidelity.
